Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Brisbane white card venue and how do I get there?
Our Brisbane white card course runs at Level 4 & 8, 117 Queen Street, right on the Queen Street Mall in the heart of the CBD. It’s a short walk from Central Station on Ann Street and from Roma Street station. The Queen Street Bus Station sits directly beneath the Myer Centre next door, and the free City Loop and Spring Hill Loop buses circle the city centre. CityCat and CityHopper ferries stop at Riverside and North Quay, both a few minutes away on foot. If you’re driving, there’s secure parking at the Myer Centre and the King George Square car park, plus commercial car parks and metered street parking nearby. Doors open before the 9:00am start, so give yourself time to park.
Where can I grab lunch or a coffee near the venue?
You’re right on the Queen Street Mall, so you’re spoilt for choice. The Myer Centre and Wintergarden food courts are next door, and the laneway cafés around Burnett Lane and Eagle Street are a short walk if you want something better. The course runs 9:00am to 1:30pm with a break, so grab a coffee before you start, and you’ll be done in time for a proper lunch after.
Which Brisbane employers and trades need a white card?
Anyone working on a construction site in Brisbane needs one. That includes labourers and tradies on the CBD high-rise builds, the Queen’s Wharf and Waterfront Brisbane riverfront precincts, the Cross River Rail station works, and the Victoria Park stadium and other 2032 Olympic projects. Apprentices, sub-contractors, and delivery drivers heading onto those sites need one too. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and plasterers all need a white card before they can start. If you’re chasing work with a builder or labour-hire firm in Brisbane, this is the card they’ll ask for first.
What are the white card rules in Queensland?
In Queensland the white card must be done face-to-face, with no online option accepted on local sites. The course is officially called general construction induction training, and the card is the general construction induction training card, though almost everyone still calls it a white card. The regulator is Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ). One thing that sets Queensland apart: your training organisation issues your card directly once you pass, so you’re not waiting on a government department to post it to you.
How does the Brisbane venue compare to your other QLD locations?
The Brisbane CBD venue is best if you live or work in the city or the inner suburbs. If you’re on the eastern or bayside side of town, our Cannon Hill course is closer. If you’re further south, try our Gold Coast venue. The course, the qualification, and the $85 price are the same at every Queensland venue, so just pick the one that’s easiest to get to. You can see all options on our Queensland white card page.
Can you run white card training at our Brisbane workplace?
Yes. If you’ve got a team that needs certifying, we can deliver the course on-site across greater Brisbane for groups of 5 to 24. It saves your crew travelling and gets everyone site-ready on the same day. Call us on 1300 029 132 to sort out a group booking, or see our corporate training page.
Does the white card expire?
No. White cards don’t have an expiry date and are recognised across Australia. There’s one catch in Queensland: if you’ve been out of the construction industry for two years or more, your card is no longer valid and you’ll need to complete the training again before you head back on site.
Will I get my certificate on the day?
Yes. You’ll receive your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 on the day you finish. You’ll also get a Statement of Training, valid for 60 days, so you can start work straight away while your physical white card is processed and issued by us as your training organisation.
Do I need a USI before the course?
Yes. For any nationally recognised training in Australia you need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). It’s free and takes a few minutes to create at usi.gov.au. Bring it on the day along with photo ID.
Is the white card the right course for me?
If you need to work on or enter a construction site in Australia, the white card (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is the course you need. It’s the entry-level induction every construction worker must have. The course takes about half a day (4.5 hours, 9:00am to 1:30pm) and costs $85 in Brisbane, with no hidden extras. Enrol online or call 1300 029 132.
