Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Chermside white card venue and how do I get there?
Our Chermside white card course runs at Unit 2 & 3, 968 Wynnum Road, in Brisbane’s east, about 7km from the CBD. It’s a short walk from Cannon Hill train station on the Cleveland line, and buses run along Wynnum Road. There’s parking nearby at the Cannon Hill shopping precinct. Get there before the 9:00am start so you’re ready to go.
Where can I grab lunch or a coffee near the venue?
Cannon Hill Kmart Plaza and Cannon Central are right nearby, with a supermarket, food court, cafés, and takeaway. The course runs 9:00am to 4:30pm with a break, so there’s plenty of choice for lunch close by.
Which local employers and trades need a white card in eastern Brisbane?
Eastern Brisbane has steady construction and industrial work. The Murarrie and Morningside industrial areas, the Port of Brisbane, and the Gateway Motorway projects all run active sites. Labourers, apprentices, and tradies working those jobs need a white card. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and sub-contractors chasing work with eastern-suburbs builders or labour-hire firms will need this card first.
What are the white card rules in Queensland?
In QLD the white card must be done face-to-face — online delivery hasn’t been allowed since 2019. You must be at least 16 years old. We deliver the course on behalf of WorkSafe Queensland and issue your card on the day. The course runs 9:00am to 4:30pm, and you’ll walk out site-ready with your white card the same day.
How does Chermside compare to your other QLD venues?
Chermside suits anyone in Brisbane’s eastern and bayside suburbs — Wynnum, Manly, Carindale, Morningside, and Murarrie. If you’re down on the coast, our Gold Coast course at Southport may be closer. The course and the $85 QLD price are the same at every Queensland venue — just pick the easiest one to get to.
Can you run white card training at our Chermside workplace?
Yes. If you’ve got a team that needs certifying, we can deliver the course on-site across Cannon Hill for group bookings. It saves your crew travelling and gets everyone site-ready in a day. Call 1300 029 132 or see our corporate training page.
Does the white card expire?
No. White cards issued after January 2012 don’t expire and are recognised across Australia. If you’ve been out of the construction industry for two years or more, a refresher is recommended to brush up on current safety rules.
Will I get my certificate on the day?
Yes. In QLD you’ll receive both your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 and your physical white card on the day you finish, so you can start work straight away.
Do I need a USI before the course?
Yes. You need a free Unique Student Identifier (USI) for any nationally recognised training in Australia. Set one up in a few minutes at usi.gov.au and bring it on the day with photo ID.
Is the white card the right course for me?
If you need to work on or enter a construction site, the white card (CPCWHS1001 — Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is the course you need. It’s the entry-level induction every construction worker must have. One day, $85 in Cannon Hill, no hidden extras. Enrol online or call 1300 029 132.
